Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-07-09 · applies to the WebCode Sonification Engine browser extension (v0.3.0 and later) and this website
The short version: we collect nothing. All analysis and music synthesis run locally inside your browser. The extension has no server, sends no network requests, and contains no telemetry, analytics or tracking of any kind. Nothing you browse ever leaves your machine.
What the extension does
When — and only when — you click Analyze & Play or Analyze & Visualize, WSE reads structural statistics of the page in the current tab (element counts, tag names, DOM depth, sampled computed styles, element geometry) and converts them into a musical score, which is synthesized locally with the Web Audio API.
What is never read
- Form values: the contents of
input,textareaandselectelements are never read — including password fields. - Editable regions: anything inside
contenteditableelements is excluded, at any nesting depth. - Your text: only aggregate statistics (character count, word count) are computed; the text itself is never stored or transmitted.
- URLs: only
origin + pathnameenters the pipeline — query strings and fragments (which often contain tokens or search terms) are discarded. - Browsing history: the extension only acts on the active tab, only after your click, and retains nothing about which pages you analyzed.
What is stored, and where
- Your preferences (style, mode, tuning sliders) — stored locally via
chrome.storage.local. - The most recently generated score and its element-token sample (tag names + nesting depth only) — stored locally so the visualizer tab can play it. Overwritten on the next run.
Nothing is synced, uploaded, sold or shared. There are no accounts and no third-party services.
Permissions, honestly explained
activeTab— temporary access to the current tab, granted by your click. No persistent host access to any website.scripting— injects the analysis script into the current tab after your click.storage— saves your preferences and the last generated score, locally.offscreen— creates a hidden extension page to host audio playback (MV3 service workers cannot play audio).
This website
wse.evemisstechnology.com is a static site served by Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Cloudflare may process standard server logs (IP address, user agent) to deliver the site; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
